The Urban Women

(A Project of Awareness Voluntary Organization)

Women Development – Poverty Alleviation

With the changing role of women worldwide women in developing countries also started embracing new roles. Pakistani women are not an exception to this phenomenon. Striking changes in the position of women are taking place in our society. The modern world is bringing about rapid social changes in Pakistan and the traditional social set up is giving way to new order. These changes have also brought a new sense of liberty, hence bringing changes in day to day working pattern and life style of the Pakistani women.

Most of the National & International NGO’s and Funding Agency have focused on the suffering and discrimination faced by the Rural Women, overlooking the Uneducated, deprived & Low Economical Background Urban Women, who have to face humiliation & discrimination day in & day out, and is destined by the society for the only task ‘HOUSE-MAID’ brushing aside their many other hidden talents.

Taking this problem into consideration Awareness Voluntary Organization are conducted an Awareness Lecture ‘The Urban Women’ to enhance the knowledge of NGO’S, CBR, Government Agencies working in the Social Sector, Social Workers, Philanthropist, Sponsors, Community Leaders and the General Donors to channelize the hidden talent of these Uneducated, deprived & Low Economical Background Urban Women for the Socio – Economical Empowerment & Human Development of these Uneducated, deprived & Low Economical Background Urban Women in making them Self-Employed through Soft Skill Training and Small Micro Finance

Ms Rehana Saud District Officer (CDD-CDGK), Mr Anwar Siddique Deputy District Officer (Jamshed Town), office staff and many women attendees from Jamshad Town were present at the lecture.

The sucess story of an Uneducated & deprived  girl who had started her career as a House-Maid & developed herself into a hairdresser with the support from Project: The Urban Women was very well appreciated by the attendees.
